Minor, Helen E. (Colby) December 15, 1939 - March 22, 2013

Helen Elizabeth (Colby) Minor was born to Sam and Opal Humphrey on December 15, 1939 at the family home in Osceola, Missouri weighing in at only 3 pounds. She passed away on March 22, 2013 after a brief illness. She attended High Hill School for seven years and went to Osceola High School for two years. She married John Colby at 16 and traveled with him to Japan and Texas during his Air Force career and settled back down in St. Clair County in the seventies. Known for her humor and sharp wit, Helen worked at various jobs around the area and is perhaps best remembered for her homemade bread and cinnamon rolls she served at Colby’s Family Restaurant. Helen never met a stranger, nor could she pass up a garage sale and was an avid collector of Betty Boop memorabilia. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Colby and her second husband, Ron Minor, her parents, Sam and Opal Humphrey, her oldest brother James, infant son James, and daughter Debra Reed. Helen is survived by sons, John Colby, Jr., Curtis Colby and wife, Kathy, Sam Colby, and Roger Colby and wife, Teresa. Helen was blessed with many grandchildren and their spouses, Jackie, Opal, Anna Connie, Joni, Sara and Josh, Cody and Sarah, Nick and Kara, Katy, Brittany, Samuel, Michael, Caleb, Jacob, Jessy and Zack, Raelyn, Ali and Brad, Zack and Zoie; as well as great-grandchildren Grace, Jayden, Trenton, Jaxson, Tamara, Faith, Wren, and Jace. Her sisters, Mary Summers, Stella and Bill Moritz, and brother Glenn and Norma Humphrey, plus many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends. and many friends.
