Francis Dean Moore, age 79, passed away at his home on June 29, 2019. Dean was born March 19, 1940 in Albia, Iowa, to Oscar and Ruby (Hasley) Moore, the fourth of five sons.
He married Patsy Ann Greer on May 5, 1963 and she survives of the home. Dean and Pat attended the Church of God (Holiness) and both were saved and baptized in 2011.
After Dean’s mother passed away in childbirth when Dean was a year old, his father married Edna Curry. The family moved to Sheldon, Missouri and Edna was a true mother to Dean and his younger brother Ronnie. As the boys got older, they helped their father on the farm. Dean graduated high school at Nevada in 1958. After graduation he moved to Kansas City where he was employed a short time at Hallmark Cards. He then was employed by Sears as a store manager in Kansas City, Kansas.
Not wanting to raise their two young daughters in the city, the family moved to El Dorado Springs where Dean delivered the Kansas City Star and Springfield News Leader for seven years. Dean then became an employee of the Kansas City Star and retired from the Star as a district manager after twenty-five year of service. During this time Dean served on the City Council from 1986 to 1995. He also served two terms as Mayor of El Dorado Springs in 1989 and 1992. After retirement Dean and Pat spent many happy hours crappie fishing. They traveled quite a lot and were fortunate to spend an entire summer in Alaska.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step- mother, and brothers Robert, Gary and Ronald.
Dean is survived by his wife Pat of fifty-six years; his daughter Lisa Gann (Doug); granddaughters Kelsey and Katelynn; his daughter Rebecca (Jim) Kiger and step grandsons Nicholas and Blake. He is also survived by his brother Harold and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Christian School and left in care of the funeral home.
