Kenneth Oliver Muri was born on April 4, 1927 to Homer and Hattie Muri in California, Missouri. He joined the Navy in 1945 where he served in World War II and was stationed in Guam.
Kenny, as he was known, was a very hard working, fun loving man. After the Navy he was in construction building houses. He then owned his own backhoe services company for numerous years; employing several family members. Retirement was not something he took to easily. He bought a dump truck and started Ken’s Hauling. Once that ran its course, he had a small mowing and yard service business he enjoyed doing with his companion.
Kenny was not one to sit still. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, hunting, gardening and a trip to the casino occasionally. Family was extremely important to him. He hosted many holiday gatherings in the home he built in 1957 that he still lived in when he passed. Cooking food and making sure everyone had enough to eat was just one of his passions.
Kenny was married for 50 years to Joan Muri who preceded him in death in 1999. He was also preceded in death by parents Homer and Hattie; sister Betty June and daughter, Deana Jackson.
He is survived by his dear companion of 20 years, Martha Winwright. His daughter Linda Roberts of Osceola and Martha’s daughter; Penny Ward. Grandchildren Shelly Larsen and husband Kevin, Kress Roberts and wife Kathy, Sara Beth Jackson and husband Shane and Billy Jackson and wife Nicole. 13 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren and many other family members that loved him dearly.
Kenny passed peacefully at his home in Kansas City on April 17th, 2019 surrounded by his family.
