Donald E. Rowe was born on January 12, 1941 in Blue Mound, Kansas in a blizzard to R.V. and Millie (Mounce) Rowe. He departed this life on February 8, 2019 at St Joseph Medical Center after a long battle with kidney and Parkinson’s disease.
His early years were spent in Kansas where he attended a country school for a while. He moved to Garnett, Kansas then to Ottawa where he graduated in 1958. He moved to Lowry City with his dad where he farmed with his future father-in-law. He joined the Air Force in 1959 and was honorably discharged in 1963. After leaving the Air Force he returned to Lowry City and worked several jobs and renewed acquaintances with Betty Lou DuVall. They were united in marriage on June 27, 1965 and to this union two children were born. Crystal in 1969 and Eric in 1977. Donald worked for MoDot for over 30 years and retired in 1999.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents RV and Millie Rowe as well as his sister Bonnie.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou, of the home; daughter Crystal Schafer (Kevin) of Prescott, Iowa, son Eric Rowe (Tiffany) of Harrisonville, Missouri; grandchildren Bryce Schafer (Abbey) of Corning, Iowa, Cole Ray Schafer of Maryville, Missouri, Drew Schafer of Las Vegas, Nevada, Keigan and Kyah Rowe of Harrisonville, Missouri; brothers Jerry Rowe (Rosalie) of Iola, Kansas, Vernon Rowe (Marge) of Pleasanton, Kansas; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends as well as special friends Morgan Johnson and Al Smith (Kunkle).
