Joseph Granville Scott, second of three sons of Boyce & Ekla (Harvey) Scott, was born on November 3, 1942 and went home to be with the Lord on November 1, 2023 after a short stay in Cox South Hospital, Springfield, MO.

He grew up in the Quincy, Missouri community and went to Quincy Elementary, Weaubleau High School and graduated from Osceola High School in 1960.  He attended college and received his undergraduate degrees from Southwest Baptist University and Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State University) and a Masters Degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia. He had a 30-year career as a Science teacher in the Raytown Missouri school district.

He was united in marriage to Virginia Bremer on June 23, 1973.  They made their home in Lee’s Summit, MO and enjoyed farming on the weekends.  Their son, Joshua, was born November 16, 1981.  When Joe retired from teaching they moved from Lee’s Summit and made their “weekend farm” near Weaubleau, Missouri, their permanent home, a goal they had long pursued.  They eventually built their dream home and started their family business of raising registered Angus cattle.  Always a lover of the outdoors, he spent many of his leisure hours hunting and fishing.

He was an active member of the Hopewell Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, who passed away on January 16, 2020. They enjoyed 46 wonderful years together.

He is survived by his son, Joshua, and his two brothers, Lindsey Scott (Kay) and Bill Scott (Maxine Caswell).
