Noel Wayne Scott, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, faithful friend and servant of the Lord, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025, at the age of 87. Noel was born on October 21, 1937 in Brownington, Missouri. His parents later moved to Lowry City, Missouri where he attended elementary school.

As the fifth of seven children, Noel was part of a musically talented family who all loved to sing and play musical instruments. Compassionate and kind, a gifted speaker Noel was world-renowned for his holiness preaching.

Noel met the love of his life Betty Joann Reasoner at a camp meeting in Appleton City, Missouri when they were just teenagers. The couple married in 1957 in Overland Park, Kansas and began their lifelong partnership, where he served as pastor and evangelist in many churches in over 40 countries.  Noel and Betty shared 67 wonderful years of marriage.

A Life Well-Lived–Noel wanted to know everything there was to know about theology and attended Kansas City College and Bible School where he earned two degrees. Later, he attended Missouri State University where he received his Master’s degree and Doctorate degree in Theology.
Noel’s life was defined by faith, family, and a love for music and God’s family.  His daily life revolved around spending time in God’s Word and prayer. His Bible was always open as he studied, memorized scripture, and sought to grow in his walk with the Lord.

The love of music filled his life as he participated in school choirs, singing solos, quartets and of course singing with his wife Betty in church services.  He truly used his gift of music to honor the Lord. As a teacher, mentor, and encourager, Noel motivated others to grow and succeed, always ready with advice. His dedication to mentorship extended to his home where he and Betty counseled many couples and helped countless marriages.

As an integral part of Kansas City College and Bible School, Overland Christian High School and Mt. Zion Bible School, Noel served as Academic Dean and President. Noel treasured his family and its traditions. He poured his love into his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Noel and Betty traveled the world together sharing the story of salvation.

Noel’s sense of humor, wisdom, and steadfast faith will forever be remembered by all who knew him.

Cherished Family-Noel is survived by his daughter Glenda English (husband Jeff) ; his grandchildren: Kristina Dinius, Clint Riesland (wife Codie), Kenneth Rummerfield (wife Kristen), Matthew Kenney (wife Rosslyn), Kassidy English.  Great-grandchildren; Maci Dinius, Kenadie Dinius, Remi Riesland, Braxton Kenney.  Two sisters: Ruth McCarthy, Ruby Rice, two brothers: Harold Scott (Philena), David Scott (Thea), sister-in-law Joyce Scott and many nieces and nephews.

Noel is preceded in death by his parents R.O and Hazel; his brothers, Don and Robert; his daughter, Betty Ann; his sons, Donovan, and David Lee; and his grandson, Brandon.

Dr. Scott was a great man who loved God with all his heart, and loved people deeply. His keen mind, clear Bible preaching, quit wit, and sense of humor will be greatly missed. May his family find comfort in knowing he lived well, and is in the presence of the Lord.
