Self, Roger R. April 19, 1972 - October 29, 2018

Roger Ray Self was born April 19, 1972 at the Golden Valley Hospital in Clinton, MO. He passed in peace Monday, October 29, 2018 at the age of 46.

He was preceded in death by his father John Self, and grandparents Bill Roberts, Nina Johnston and Robert Johnston.

Roger is survived by his beloved wife Lisa, his children Nikki Leiber, Alexis and Keifer Arduser, and Driston Self and Kamiron Luptak, his mother Sue Sherman and brothers Rob and Angela Self, Ryan and Tish Self, his grandchildren Burklee Leiber, Sophie Arduser, Quest Leiber, and Beau Arduser, father and mother-in-law Junior and Shirley Coleman. As well as many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and loving friends.

He lived his life for his children, hauling them to and from games, and being so proud of their accomplishments. He enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren taking gator rides and checking cows.

Roger grew up with an amazing close family. Including one relationship many cannot understand, an identical twin. Roger and Ryan were inseparable throughout their childhood and they share many memories. Rob was always Roger’s protector as all big brothers are, and he was always trying to keep the twins in line. He was a family man that was easy to see. He always compared himself to his father hoping he would measure up to the man he was. Roger deeply loved his mother and he admired her strength, he always wanted the best for her.

Roger loved being on his farm with his cows, playing co-ed softball and spending time with his family and caring for his lifelong friendships. He enjoyed taking out his fishing boat and catching crappie like he learned from his father. Roger was always there when a friend needed him—willing to give the shirt off his back. He never forgot to say I love you or give a great big bear hug. He is looking down on us today and here-on-after, giving us strength to carry on. The love Roger gave to so many, we can now cherish—a piece of him living on forever.

He will be remembered as a loving father, protective brother, caring friend, and an exceptional Papa Roger.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest financial donation be made to a memorial fund. These donations will be used to fund an athletic scholarship and a donation to the BMT (Bone Marrow Transplant) Unit at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
