Anita Helene Domann Settle was born to Dr. G.B. and Anna O. Biehler Domann on August 24, 1930 in Manhattan, KS. She died Sept. 29, 2016 at CMH Hospital after a brief illness.
In the 8th grade her family moved to Lowry City, MO. where her father established his medical practice. It is there she met the love of her life, Forrest D. Settle. They married after high school and moved to Raytown, MO where they raised their three children, Cheryl Lynn, Pamela Ann and Dale Duane. Anita was very active in her children’s lives. She was a Girl Scout Troop leader as well as Den Mother in the Boy Scouts. She supported her children’s involvement with RHS bands and orchestra, chauffering for music lessons as well as being employed with the government. She said being the mother to Cherie, Pam and Dale was the thing she was most proud of.
Anita started her career at Westinghouse in the Jet Engine Division then moved to Social Security and worked her way up to Benefit Authorizer and Manager. She received many awards in her years with the government and developed many life long friends. She retired in 1986 and she and Frosty moved to Urbana, MO>
“Nita” was a member of Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church. She was active in the choir, the United Methodist Women organization and committees within the church. One of her favorite duties was serving in the Dallas County Food Pantry based at Prarie Chapel. She was a member in the Pomme de Terre Community Choir and with the Springfield Water Garden Society. Anita enjoyed anything Mizzou, basketball and the Olympics. She loved ice skating and took her kids and grandkids to the Ice Capades each year. She traveled both in and out of the country but her favorite was Hawaii where she and Frosty once took the entire family She greatly enjoyed her many trips with Richard’s Fun Time Tours.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr.G.B. and Anna O. Domann, her husband Forrest Dale Settle, daughter, Pamela Ann Pence, sister Mary May Domann McCoy, brother Dr. Darrel Domann, grandson, Scott Alan Riley and two sons-in-law, Jerry Ellis and Steve Pence.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Ellis, Raytown and son Dale and daughter-in-law, Robin Settle of Urbana. She also leaves her grandchildren, Kimberly and Shawn Ellis, Brooke and Sarah Pence Bales, Greatgrandchildren Forrest, Brianna, Shawna and Hunter Ellis, Aja Pence, Wyatt, Sadie and Dawson Bales and Great Great Granddaughters, Alyson Rene and her namesake, Calleigh Helene Ellis.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. We will all miss her so much.
