Leland William Austin was born June 4, 1925 in Lowry City, Missouri to Irving Everett Austin and Bessie (Bernesser) Austin. He departed this life September 27, 2016 in Overland Park, Kansas.
He confessed his faith and was saved during a revival in September of 1951 in Lowry City, Misouri with the Reverend Amos Jackson preaching at the First Baptist Church in Lowry City, Missouri. Lee gave his life to Christ. His determination to live for Christ was his living testimony. His favorite Bible verses were John 3:3, John 6:44 and John 14:6
Lee worked 32 years for General Foods Maxwell House Coffee Division and retired in 1984 at which time he moved from Overland Park, Kansas to Bella Vista, Arkansas. Lee returned to the Kansas City area in 2009. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed many rounds over the 60 plus years he played.
He and Betty were married September 7, 1947 at the First Baptist Church of Lowry City, Missouri with Reverend Hugh Sperry officiating. Their union of 54 years is a sterling example of commitment and blessings from God, “In sickness and in health, til death do us part”.
Lee was preceded into eternal life by his wife, Betty Jane (Pulley) Austin; parents, Irving and Bessie Austin; older brother Kenneth I. Austin and twin brother, Linden J. Austin.
He is survived by his three loving daughters, Linda and husband Bill Wostrel of Overland Park, Kansas, Janice and husband Steven Langton of Overland Park, Kansas and Debbie Endecott of Rogers, Arkansas; 5 grandchildren, Laurie and husband Shawn Dearing of Olathe, Kansas, Leesa and husband Tim Brown of Blue Springs, Missouri, Marlo and husband Bryan Polc of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Chad Langton of Olathe, Kansas and Ashlee and husband Benjamin Tietgen of Phoenix, Arizona; 6 great-grandchildren, Abby Dearing, Emalee Brown, Neva and Brecken Polc and Jack and Felix Tietgen. Lee leaves a legacy of his life with his 3 loving daughters and is very proud of his grandchildren. His memory will live on in the hearts of a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
