Verda Juanita Thomas was born September 13, 1925 in Hubbard, Oregon to Ora and Rosa (Roth) Troyer. Verda lived the majority of her life in Weaubleau, Missouri and graduated from Weaubleau High School in 1943.
On August 3, 1946 Verda married Frank Overturf. They resided in Fair Grove, MO on a farm. To this union two children were born, Larry Overturf and Rick Overturf. Frank Overturf preceded her in death on August 23, 1978.
On July 11, 1985 Verda married James Thomas and they celebrated the union with family on September 11, 1985. Verda and James purchased a farm in Osceola, Missouri where they lived out the remainder of their life. Verda enjoyed living the farm life, being a homemaker and attending church. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.
Verda passed away on January 28, 2015 with her family by her side.
Verda was preceded in death husband James Thomas, son Rick Overturf, parents, Sister Helen Durbin, Brother Merle Troyer, and Brother Richard Troyer.
She is survived by her son Larry Overturf and daughter-in-law Theresa Overturf of New Caney, TX; brother David Troyer of Orange Park, FL; three grandchildren Kimberly Overturf, Justin Overturf and Michael Tandy; three great grandchildren Kayla Tandy, Kelsi Tandy and Kameron Tandy; and two great great grandchildren Madalyn Overturf and Ali Tandy, other relatives and friends.
Directions To Cemetery -From the funeral home get on Hwy 13 South toward Springfield. -Once you’ve arrived at the North end of Springfield take the I-44 west exit -Take the Willard (hwy 160)exit and stay right on Hwy 160 -Hwy 160 will take you through Willard toward Ash Grove (about 5 miles) -Turn left onto hwy UU -Take the first left once on UU (there will be a sign for the church and cemetery) -Go about 1 more mile and it will be the first road on the right.
