Allen Delbert Tovey was born June 7, 1939 to Delbert Francis Tovey and Leta Irene Abernathy in Loraine, North Dakota. He passed away June 11, 2011 at his home in Lowry City, Missouri. He graduated from Minot High School in Minot, North Dakota in 1958 and married June Hendershot on September 20, 1958. Allen worked for a crop sprayer in the late 1950’s and later owned a diaper delivery business in the early 1960’s. From 1961 to 1974 he worked for MoDOT and in 1975 he opened the Half Acre Machine Shop in Blue Springs, MO. In 1983 Allen sold his machine shop and retired. He then moved to the Lowry City/Talley Bend area in 1992 and worked on clocks until a few months before his passing. Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert Francis and Leta Irene Tovey. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, June, of the home; 2 daughters, Vereta Marie Leuty and Bonnie Murray, both of Blue Springs, Missouri; 4 grandchildren, Destin Murray of Kansas City, Missouri, Meredith and husband Jeremy Adams, Tuker Murray, Zachary Leuty, all of Blue Springs, Missouri, one great granddaughter on the way; 2 sisters, Reta and husband Roy Erickson of Mohall, North Dakota and Cheryl Luethjie of Independence, Missouri along with numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
