Richard Allen Vaughn, also known as Rich, was born January 2, 1946 in San Francisco, California to Richard Vaughn and Betty Jean (Cook) Vaughn. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home near Osceola on September 8, 2015. He attended and graduated from Sonora High School in California. In 1964, after graduation, he joined the United States Air Force. He served his country for 20 years as a helicopter mechanic. During that 20 year term he served during the Vietnam War. Rich retired from the United States Air Force and started working in Osceola, Missouri for the St. Clair County Sheriffs Department and the Water Patrol. Rich was a lifetime member of the local VFW and served as the commander for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who has been on many game hunts with his brother Phil, his son John and many of his friends. Rich was loved by many from every outlook in life. Many friends and family gather here today with a heavy heart He is survived by his son John A Vaughn, United States Army, and wife Windy Vaughn along with their children, Shelbie, Zachary, Michael, Jayda and Mattie; daughter, Lisa D. Vaughn and her children, Michael, Chelsey and Ty; mothers, Mrs. Betty Cook Evins and Mrs. Georgia Vaughn; brother, Phil K. Vaughn and wife Tammy J. Vaughn along with their family, Jamie Koch and family, Brad Vaughn and family and Chase and Chance Crawford.
