Mary Lucille Whitby was born March 5, 1958 to Phillip and Betty June (Maynard) Hamel in Sedalia, Missouri. She passed away May 12, 2013 at her home in Osceola, Missouri. She spent her childhood going to school with her two sisters in Sedalia. As a young woman she married Larry Amos and to this union two sons were born, Frankie and Robert Amos. Mary moved to the Osceola area and married Frank Whitby, who helped raise Frankie and Robert. Mary enjoyed family outings and spending time with friends. She never knew a stranger and would reach out to anyone in need. She loved music, movies and shopping. She gave a new meaning to the phrase “shop till you drop”. Mary also enjoyed reading. She read many, many books and especially loved reading her bible. Mary was preceded in death by her two sons, Frankie and Robert Amos; her husband Frank Whitby; her father and mother, Phillip Hamel and Betty Paxton and her grandmother Marie Schrader. She is survived by her two sisters Christina Beach, husband Richard of Lowry City, Missouri and Phyllis Thrush, husband Scott of Gerster, Missouri; 2 nieces, Sherie Miller, husband Roger of Clinton, Missouri and Sarah Martinez, husband Joe of Kansas City, Missouri; 2 nephews, Gary Holman of Sedalia, Missouri and Brian Hamel, wife Corva of Osceola, Missouri; 1 aunt, Betty Garrett, cousin Russell Garrett, one Uncle, Richard and DeLamerter of Osceola, Missouri seven great nieces and nephews and one great-great niece and one great-great nephew and many, many friends.
