Daryl D. Wood, 71, of Springfield, Missouri, formerly of Osceola, Missouri passed away on August 12, 2010 at the Maranatha Village in Springfield, Missouri. He was born on January 16, 1939 to Walter and Martha (Bird) Wood. He was the seventh of ten children. Daryl proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. After serving his country in the Marines he had worked for Lyons Die Cast for several years. Daryl was also the police chief for the city of Osceola. Daryl had a passion for helping others. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Buckner and Osceola departments. He was also the fire chief for the Osceola volunteer fire department. He was baptized in 2008 and attended the First Assembly of God Church in Osceola. Daryl was preceded in death by one son, Gabriel Nathaniel; parents, Walter and Martha (Bird) Wood; two brothers, Keith and Howard Wood; three sisters, Joyce Gow, Deloris Bechel and Avis Tinknell. He is survived by his wife, Susan; three children, Brenda Bowling and husband Frank, Denison, TX; Trish Collins and husband Tom, Billings, MO; Gregory Wood and wife Tamara, Bolivar, MO; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Roger Wood; three sisters, Ruth Jones, Sonja Wood and Clarice Burrow along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
