Roger B. Wood was born January 14, 1942 in Louisville, Nebraska to Walter A. Wood and Martha Francis (Bird) Wood. He was the 8th of 10 children born to this union. He passed away July 30, 2014 at the CMH Health Care Facility in Bolivar, Missouri.
He served his country in the United States Air Force from August of 1963 to April of 1964. While still in high school his firefighting career started serving in Osceola, Lowry City and as the fire chief in Collins. Roger worked for over 30 years at the Sac-Osage Hospital where he met his wife Sandi. He was known for his work as an EMT/Paramedic and a Phlebotomist at Sac-Osage.
Roger was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family and working at the fire department.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Martha (Bird) Wood; 3 brothers, Howard, Keith, and Daryl; 4 sisters Deloris Bechel, Joyce Gow, Avis Tincknell, Sonja Sue Wood and his daughter, Sheila Rutledge.
Roger is survived by his wife Sandi Wood, of the home; daughter, Angie and husband Ron Rowe of Bolivar; son, Troy Wood of Weaubleau; step-daughter Tammy Duffy and husband Josh of Eugene, Oregon; step-sons Michael Baker of Galmey, Clint Baker and wife Billie Jo, Todd Baker and Chad Baker of Collins 2 sisters, Ruth Jones, Lee’s Summit, Clarice Burrow and husband Jim of Osceola along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.
