Jack Martin Shelby was born January 5, 1939 in Artesia, California to Spencer and Bonnie (Creek) Shelby. He passed way August 9, 2020 in Clinton, MO.
Although he was born in California, a short 9 months after his birth his parents would return to Missouri where he would learn to hunt and fish with the best of them in Osceola, MO. In 1957 he married his high school sweetheart Jean Carol Elliott, a union that would last 63 years and produced two sons, Rory and Martin.
Jack pursued careers and hobbies across a wide spectrum that could take pages, from over the road trucking to boat sales to establishing his own prepaid legal business; from fishing to golf to learning to fly to teaching himself to play guitar. He pursued his interests with passion and enthusiasm, and his life journey brought him into contact with many people whom he invariably touched with his charm and wit, all the way to the nurses taking care of him as the final chapter of life drew to a close. He had that magic touch with people.
He is survived by his wife Jean Carol; his sons, Rory and wife Joyce and Martin; two grandchildren, Audra Shelby and Dr. Andrew Shelby; 2 brothers, Joe and wife Barbara and Jerry and wife Connie; 1 sister, Janelle Nelson and many much loved nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews.

Jim & I were sorry to learn of Jack’s passing.
We enjoyed getting to know him and you a few years ago, when you both came to our home to practice for the annual Paddy Pig dinner at the Vista Methodist Church.
