William (Bill) Stiles passed away at the age of 94 on April 12, 2025. He was born on a farm
near Vista on November 29, 1930, the son of Marie and William C. Stiles. He graduated from
Osceola High School and then from the University of Missouri.
He married Laveta F. Lowry on June 22, 1952, at the Vista Methodist Church. Their marriage
endured for over 70 years.
After graduating from Missouri and getting married, Bill was in the Korean War. Laveta and
Bill moved to Raytown in December 1957 and lived there for 60 years. He worked for most of
his career at Farmland Industries.
Bill was known for being very helpful to anyone who needed it. In his retirement years, he
did yardwork for several elderly people, as well as delivering for Meals on Wheels. His top
hobby and passion was fishing, especially for crappie.
Bill is survived by his children Patty, Tom (Sandi) and Jim (Laurie), five grandchildren, and six
great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Laveta and a brother, Bob.
