James Henry Thompson Sr., age 74, went home to be with the Lord at his home in rural St. Clair County early Wednesday morning, August 12, 2015, where he lived all his adult life and raised his family. He was born in El Dorado Springs, Missouri, on June 25, 1941 to Royston and Gladys Thompson. He was the youngest of five children; one brother, Wm E. Thompson, and three sisters, Alice Meeks, Dixie Sparks, and Martha Sparks.
To a previous marriage he had four children, James H. Thompson, Jr., Georgetta Branstetter, Wm. F. Thompson, and Ronald D. Thompson.
On July 27, 1972, he married Virginia Collins. She had a daughter, Cynthia (Collins) Warman who he raised as his own along with his four children.
James lived a simple country farm life and loved to fish. He worked many years for Producers Grain in El Dorado Springs, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dixie; three brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; and an infant brother.
James is survived by his wife, Virginia; children, James H. Thompson, Jr., Georgetta Branstetter, Wm. F. Thompson, Ronald D. Thompson, and Cynthia (Collins) Warman; twelve grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a host of extended family.
